Couple good ones of ROWDY and ELENA.  ROWDY won everything, again.  We struggled on ELENA early in the week in the light air, but were able to win the last race of the week and finish on a high note!  I carried two L. Francis Cannons with me for ELENA and we went through about fifty shells over the course of the week.  Very loud.

We just hooked our office weather station up to RIYachting.com so now everyone can track the wind in Bristol, RI.  The station is location at the top of  18 Burnside St. The 'New Store House' as it was called in the days of HMCo. and now the home of Herreshoff Designs, Inc.  Check it out: http://riyachting.com/bristol-rhode-island-weather.html

We docked there yesterday to clear customs and the unmistakable bow profile / sprit caught my eye.

Has she sold?

6 - 0 in favor of ELENA is the current race standing of the two replica schooners following 5 straight days of racing at le voiles de St Tropez  last week.   The experience of going head to head in these 200+ ton schooners was amazing.   Even though I hoped the yachts would be trading wins, I can't say I'm disappointed with the results.  The 55 crew on ELENA worked tremendously well together and the after guard included all the talent you could hope for when it comes to large schooner racing.  I'll get a more detailed race report and pictures together later.  Have to tend to my full voice mail box at the moment...Adam

PS - the NY40 ROWDY won overall.

Specific Herreshoff Vessels / COQUINA, HMCo #??? Day ONE
« on: September 22, 2009, 07:41:24 PM »
COQUINA, whatever hull number she may be, officially made the firsts step towards sailing again, with any luck, by next season.  The list is long; the major items being ballast keel removal / repair, deck re-canvas, seam splining, replacing deteriorated floors, and everything else that comes up.  Anyway, getting her into the shop was the first step.

I'm off to France tomorrow for some schooner racing.  Work begins on COQUINA when we return on the 5th.
