Thistle was owned by Phil Tobey of Hingham, MA. The boat was destroyed in a storm in February of 1978. Phil broke the boat up and had a new fiberglass boat build by Cape Cod Shibuilding. He used the spars from the original in his new boat. The spars have since been sent to the Herreshoff Museum, and the original transom is on a wall in his house.
