Nuthatch was totally restored her in the winter of 2001-02 by George W. Zachorne, Jr. She had previously been covered with fiberglass. This boat was apparently built with leftover pieces, as not all of her planks were of the same kind of wood, many being of Western red cedar. Prior to the restoration, the construction quality was poor, but she is now in quite good shape. Nuthatch was once sailed very successfully by Johnny Hallowell in the Wings Neck area of Buzzards Bay. It is discussed in the 2003 bestseller, The Big House, by George Howe Colt.
